Social Security Procedures

Students are insured by general health insurance if they make a request to the Social Security Institution (SGK) within ninety (90) days from the date of first registration to the University.

Students who do not apply within three months after the registration date cannot apply to the SGK for general health insurance, they are asked to have an annual private health insurance covering outpatient and inpatient treatment.

You must submit the document showing that you have applied for the SGK for your general health insurance with your residence application file and bring your insurance provision document to Social Security Provincial Directorate within three months.

If you do not want to be insured by SGK general health insurance, you have to submit a private health insurance valid from the date of your application, and submit it with your residence application file. It is required to submit the document that the insurance is active and can get provision at the beginning of each academic year to Kastamonu Provincial Migration Office, otherwise your residence permit will be cancelled.

Important Note:

It is observed that our students, who take private health insurance since the ninety-day period has expired or because the premium cost is low, have to pay additional fees for many treatments in hospitals because of the limited coverage of the private health insurance.

To avoid such problems, it is recommended that our students apply for general health insurance to the SGK within (90) days from the day they register.
